Quotes From The Jewish Book of Why

Thursday 26th April April

I thought it might be interesting to quote some material from the Jewish Book Of Why.

PASSOVER

Verses

Why do the Jews in Israel observe only one Seder, while most Jews in the Dispora observe two?

Sincce in Israel only the first and last day of Passover are full holidays (the five intervening days are considered half holidays - Chol Ha-Moed), a Seder is held on the first night. However, in the dispora most Jews observe the first two days of Passover as full holidays (because of the uncertanty of the calendar) and therefore hold a Seder on each of the first two nights.Reform Jews and some consertative Jews follow the Israeli practice.
